Tastes Like Chicken

Little E attends state-funded Pre-K at our local elementary school.  As part of the program, the students are provided free breakfast and lunch at school.

Little E chooses to have breakfast at school because the whole wheat bagels at home do not stoke his fire.

School breakfast options include a variety of sugary cereals which can conveniently be drowned in chocolate milk.  It is every nutritionist's worst nightmare and I find it to be shameful given our nation's childhood obesity epidemic.

While Skyping with my mom yesterday, she innocently asked Little E what he had eaten for breakfast at school that day.

Hi folks! A quick note from Mrs. Yoy as I know it's been awhile. For those that know me personally, you know that I've been very vocal in unsuccessfully convincing the Cobb County School board to change their COVID policies, which to this day, remain a steaming pile of sh*t. We follow zero health guidelines and figuring out the quarantine policy is akin to solving that math problem from Good Will Hunting. April 13th. Day 28.

Day 28. School's back in session. This transition from Spring Break back to school went much smoother than in years' past. Mostly because we didn't get startled awake at 6AM by our alarms. I think the boys were legitimately bored last week. The novelty of doing nothing all day for a week, coming off of doing mostly nothing all day for a month, made this strikingly obvious for them. Little E even asked me to print out all of his assignments so he could get workin'. This was after we went for a nice walk. Yes, I got him to walk. (P.E. = CHECK) Our screen-free weekend experiment, born out of Big E slugging Little E in the shoulder blade, causing him to lose feeling in his arm, continued into today. Except they must use computers to do their schoolwork. My compromise was allowing Big E to use my desktop, a MAC, which he was oddly against. He had to code a website for an ELA project and he had to research how to do it, because it was different from his PC. But he...

Happy 19th Day of School!

Good Morning from Quarantine-land in East Cobb. I am writing to you, as I have numerous times since the first day of school on August 2nd, to plead with you to reinstate the mask mandate in Cobb County Schools. I spent yesterday talking to my son through a bedroom door. We have been trying to limit contact between him and the rest of our family, as he received his first close contact letter on Tuesday. A COVID positive boy that sits at his table in class,  MASKLESS , breathed on my son for an hour on Monday morning. Thankfully, my son was wearing his mask. We will go tomorrow to get tested for COVID. Currently, our days consist of temperature checks, CTLS checks, and a few massive meltdowns sprinkled in. As my son sobbed through the door, he relayed how stressed he was, worried about missing class while his assignments piled up. As I tried to soothe his troubled soul, I thought of you all.
